Lenten Activities for Children

Lent is the period of six weeks or 40 days (excluding Sundays) leading up to Easter, the most important festival in the Christian calendar.  Lent starts on Ash Wednesday and the last week of Lent is called Holy Week.

During Lent, we remember the time when Jesus went into the desert to fast and pray. During this time, Jesus was tempted several times by the devil, but was able to resist.  Read more about the story of Jesus in the desert and fill in the gaps  (Source: BBC)

Many children give up something they really enjoy for Lent – chocolate, a favourite TV programme or computer game, for example.  Or, they might do something extra for Lent – helping around the house or being extra kind to other children at school, for example.  What will YOU do this Lent?  Here are ten family activities for Lent.
